Year End Giving

$ 40 Needed Donation

Dear Friends of Heart of the Hamptons,

As the year comes to a close and we reflect on all that we have to be thankful for, you are among the many gifts. It never ceases to amaze us how many wonderful people come together to help others in need. Whether you participated in our fundraising events, donated your time and talent or financially supported us, you have helped us reach out and help those who are struggling among us in incredible ways for the past 27 years.

November and December are months of celebration, joy, receiving and giving. At Heart of the Hamptons, it is our busiest and most rewarding time of the year, because ‘giving’ is what we love to do. Approximately 500 local low-income working families and senior citizens living on fixed incomes depend upon us to help put food on their tables throughout the year. During this special time, we hope to provide a turkey, fresh vegetables, and all of the trimmings for a festive holiday meal to each of them.

In December, we will launch our Holiday program, where families can select new toys and clothing for their children, fresh fruits and vegetables, and a turkey or chicken.  None of this would be possible without you. Because of your generosity and our amazing volunteers, we are privileged and proud to be able to distribute gifts to more than 1,000 local people in need. Everyone has experienced how good it feels to give to others and it’s so easy to do! There are Christmas trees on display in local banks, businesses and churches decorated with gift stars; each one represents someone in need. Every star lists a specific item – size, gender and ages are noted – choose one (or two, or three!) and when you’re out and about, purchase the item needed (we encourage shopping local!) and drop it off at Heart of the Hamptons. It’s that simple; a small, thoughtful gesture, but one with great impact! Just imagine the joy you will bring to a child, or the relief you will give to a parent who is struggling, or the comfort to an elderly neighbor who suddenly doesn’t feel so alone. While they gather around their table and break their bread together, and you yours, our shared gratitude will not only be for the food and gifts, but for the fact that we are all part of a great and larger community  – one that truly cares and embraces everyone –  and one that can be a model for all.

This beautiful expression of charity over these two months takes many minds, hands and hearts to put into action. We are deeply thankful for the assistance from the good people at The Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts, the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons, St. John’s Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church, Our Lady of Poland R.C. Church, the Southampton Rotary Club, and the Kiwanis Club of the Hamptons – we hold you all very dear.

Wishing you peace, joy, and wellness!

Will you please help us this year? YOU could make a real difference to those in need by donating $100 to $1,000 to Heart of the Hamptons in this season of sharing, caring and giving thanks. And of course, we hope you’ll pick a star from a tree and make someone very happy!

Warmest Regards,
